Steve’s gigs

Hi Friends
I’m about to “spring” into action again, following winter travels which included a gig in Dali, China and several in Tobago.
So here are details of what I’m doing in April 2016. I hope you’ll be able to join us at some of it.
All the best
Steve

Tuesday 5th April – that’s the coming Tuesday – 7pm
Poetry, prose and jazz in Winster – Old Bowling Green Inn, East Bank, Winster. £5
An unusual evening in which some of the work of Winster writers will be presented by wonderful actors.
I, with old jazz accomplices Pete Moxley and Graham Jones will be playing before, in the middle and after the literary contributions.
Should be an interesting and fun evening.

Sunday 17th April – Bakewell Jazz Brunch in aid of Oxfam – 10.30 am -12.30 pm
Has become a popular annual event and usually a sell out so don’t delay in getting tickets.
The Medway Centre, New Street, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1DY
Steve Salfield Quartet, featuring brilliant musicians: Wendy Kirkland on keyboard, Pat Sprakes on bass, and Clive Loveday on drums
Scrumptious breakfast, coffee galore, newspapers and of course brilliant jazz.
Tickets from Bakewell Book and Gift Shop, or ring Jude or Daryl on 01629 815469/812309. Adults £10.00, Students £7.00 and under 5’s free

Wednesday 27th April – Cakes and Ale – Abbeydale Picture House, 387 Abbeydale Rd, Sheffield, S7 1FS
Another literary evening – Jazz from 7 pm, literature from 7.30. £8.50 – profits to restoration project for the Picture House.
Radio presenter Paulette Edwards will be the host. Well known Sheffield writers Rony Robinson, Sally Goldsmith, Bryony Doran and Bill Allerton will present some of their recent work.
I with Pete Moxley and Graham Jones will be playing before, in between and after the words.
Strange to be playing at two literary events in a month, as they are few and far between.

Thursday 28th April 8pm – Jazz at the Druid Inn, Birchover, Derbyshire. 01629 653836. FREE
Our regular haunt and a great pub it is, with CAMRA award winning ales and excellent food.
Those fine musicians Graham Jones on double bass, Pete Moxley on keyboard will be playing our current jazz repertoire with me on sax.
Advisable to make a reservation if you want to eat.

Just a couple of May dates for your diary – more details later:
Saturday May 14th evening – Jet Collective performing pieces from JetStream at Green Man Gallery, Buxton

Saturday May 21st evening – Winster Church, Wyns Tor Singers with Steve Salfield
This excellent chamber choir perform a variety of songs, ancient and modern, some of which will be accompanied by me on saxophone – influenced by Jan Garbarek and Hilliard Ensemble.
Also some solo saxophone pieces.
