Steve’s gigs

Hi Friends
Well I have a few nice gigs coming up so here is the info.

Thursday 24th October 2013 – that’s this coming Thursday – Jazz at the Druid in Birchover
Pete Moxley on piano, Pat Sprakes on double bass and I on saxophones will be exercising our chops from 8 pm.
The Druid is a lovely old pub under new management. Rob the manager is keen to get it established as a regular jazz venue so we need to encourage him.
Entry is free and they have excellent beers and food. So we should have a great evening.
Hope you can make it.

Then I have several more shows of the very successful play “You might as well live.” This great play by David Frederickson on the life and writing of Dorothy Parker incorporating jazz of the age from the Steve Salfield Trio has been having a very successful run. We played to sold out houses for three nights at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford and now have a few more dates in Derbyshire and Sheffield.

Friday Oct 25th Pavilion Arts Studio, Buxton
Friday Nov 8th Wirksworth Town Hall
Friday Nov 15th Thornbridge Hall
Friday Nov 22nd De La Salle Club, Sheffield
Saturday Nov 30th, Harland Cafe, Sheffield

On Sunday November 3rd 7.30pm The Jet Collective will be performing our suite JetStream inspired by the climate and weather.
The Old Library Venue and Media Centre, Leeming Street, Mansfield, NG18 1NG.
At it’s premiere this piece was very warmly received and I hope you’ll manage to visit us in Mansfield to hear it.

Hear is what one reviewer had to say:

‘Jetstream’ is the most inspiring suite of music I have heard in an age. At times displaying a diversity reminiscent of Holst’s Planets yet concentrating on the changing aspects of just one… ours.
Because of that I felt obliged to relate to the emotional thematic of the pieces, while still revelling in their individuality.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that JETcollective are the most consummate group of musicians you are ever likely to hear.

Crushing disappointment of the evening?
It wasn’t available to buy on CD.
(For myself. And for at least six of my friends for Christmas.)

Friday January 17th 2014
Salfield, Moxley and Jones will be at Harland Cafe in Sheffield.
More details to follow. We will be performing our jazz interpretations of some of our favourite music from films – some old some new.
The Harland Cafe is a lovely intimate venue and is becoming established as a great place to go and hear a variety of live music of all kinds.

Hope you can join me for some of this live music
All the best
Steve
