Steve’s gigs for August and September 2009.
Monday 10th August 2009. Salfield/Chandler at The Rising Sun,
471, Fulwood Road, Nether Green, Sheffield S10 3QA
It’s not every week that the full Quartet is out so I’m looking forward to this gig at well known Sheffield music venue. Steve on sax, Matt Chandler on guitar, Rich Keates double bass, and Ian Beestin on drums. We’ll play some originals, some well known standards and some little known numbers. There’ll be lots of improvising, so who knows what will happen. Certainly not me.
We start playing at 9pm. We’ll probably be there earlier, eating and drinking.
We’re even having a rehearsal to celebrate the occasion.
Saturday August 15th 2009 H’s Winebar Bakewell. Water Street, Bakewell. 01629 815107. Steve Salfield duo with Matt Chandler on guitar.
I’ll be blowing my own horn once more, with maverick Matt Chandler on guitar, playing from about 8-11pm.
It’s a lovely place with a restaurant, winebar and an outside terrace for a warm evening. You can come for just a drink if you like.
Good food, good wine and lovely people.

Another chance to hear the Quartet at one of the very few Sheffield Jazz Clubs. Steve on sax with some great musicians, Matt Chandler on guitar, Rich Keates double bass, and Clive Loveday on drums. We’ll be playing some cool and some hot modern jazz. We start playing at 9pm.
Friday 11th September 2009. Salfield/Chandler at Youlgrave Music Festival near Bakewell, Derbyshire. Sometime after 6pm – time to be announced.
Having said the Quartet needs to get out more often, suddenly we have a run of gigs. That’s great. There will be two marquees I’m told with continuous music from 6pm. I don’t know yet what time we’re on. It should be good with a variety of different kinds of music. The festival continues on Saturday but not with us.
Sunday 13th September 2009. Salfield/Chandler at Wirksworth Arts and Architecture Festival. Playing in the street from 2-4pm – at the Memorial Gardens I think.
The full quartet again!
This is a great event when you can visit many of Wirksworth’s interesting buildings and homes and see multifarious art exhibitions and hear lots of live music.
